2021 in Review: Blocktoberfest and Beyond
Immediate Past Chair Greg Goodsitt is quick to admit that 2021 was challenging for a group initially focused on events. But the pandemic had other ideas. Still FDG achieved a lot by focusing on communication about business news, downtown development and the Glenview Connect process.
It’s notable that both Glenview local political parties asked to give FDG presentations, recognizing FDG’s profile in the community. FDG cemented relations with the Chamber of Commerce, with key leaders joining our Steering Committee. The Library has become a valued partner, made even stronger by Lindsey accepting the Chair position. Founding FDG member Megan McClung is now on the New Development Commission.
Blocktoberfest was a huge success, with FDG using its social media platforms to promote the event and our goodwill to attract volunteers. Looking forward, FDG initiated a mural project in collaboration with the Art League and History Center and explored riverwalk options.
Structurally, FDG is stronger thanks to a new media policy, volunteer structure, and a formal succession process. Onward to 2022!
