Here’s to a Lively Summer
Long-running Summer Fest outdoor fair just got even better with the addition of a special evening concert featuring the Freddy Jones Band.
Organized by Glenview’s Chamber of Commerce, the Fest showcases a range of regional businesses and civic organizations and offers something for everyone from restaurants to crowd favorites including Rio Bamba, Scandinavian Ski Shop and Katy Boldt Jewelry, as well as the Glenview Fire Department’s fire pole and special entertainment and kid friendly activities. Be there for the fun, the sun, and the shopping!
Introducing! Summer Fest After Sunset
The downtown street fair transforms into Summer Fest After Sunset Music Fest featuring incredible headliner Freddy Jones Band playing its roots rock tunes. This exciting new event will have a special VIP section, plus food trucks, and beer & wine available for purchase. We’re already in. In a daydream.

A Wheel Good Time
You didn’t have to be a car buff to enjoy the Glenview Luxury Imports Exotic Car Show on May 15. More than 50 rare gems were on display downtown. Hundreds turned out to admire them and enjoy food and bevs from local restaurants. Proceeds benefited the 100 Club of Illinois, which provides aid to first responders and their families. We look forward to doing it again next year!

We couldn’t help but be impressed by this lovely tribute to Glenview by GBS sophomore Evan McClung. Evan is the son of FDG Steering Committee member and proud mom Megan McClung. Enjoy!

‘Tis my town and home built on the train tracks
Sprawling from Wagner Farm to GBS
There is nothing important my town lacks
Its charming downtown is sure to impress
My town was founded 1899
For around 500 rural farmers
Mostly made of immigrants from the Rhine
Now my town is one of the most diverse
Glenview was a leader in industry
Helped progress the great urban Chicago
Built our naval air base with dignity
Which brought jobs and made my splendid town grow
My small town transformed into a suburb
Bringing on the brilliant bungalow
And a schooling system that is superb
They always looked forward to tomorrow
Now I bike through the streets of my Glenview
With a nice hot coffee to warm my hands
I gaze up to see a sky painted blue
I look right to the station that still stands
I stare in awe at the grand old fountain
The bear watching over generations
I think, what a pleasant town to live in!
As I pedal by the grand train station
I love our flag made of green, white, and brown
With our historic bear statue portrayed
The proud flag waves at me throughout my town
Lampposts and flagpoles is how it’s displayed
Glenview is a village in the North Shore
Where over the years many resided
Some may call it drab, others say a bore
I scoff at them cause they are misguided
For just look at our delightful downtown
Or our exceptional public schools
The town with the most proud people around
If you don’t like Glenview you are a fool
My town and home risen from the train tracks
Builder of Chicago and the air base
There are no qualities my village lacks
Glenview, Illinois; Oh, what a great place!
