As an Artist in Residence at The Field Museum of Natural History for the past 35 years, Peggy Macnamara has created an extensive and varied body of work that explores the museum’s collections, specimens, exhibits, and conservation efforts, particularly in South America and Madagascar. Working with museum scientists, Peggy has written and illustrated four books including: Illinois Insects and Spiders, Architecture by Birds and Insects, The Art of Migration, and The Peregrine Returns. Her publications also include a coloring book of museum species and a children’s book, Rosie the Tarantula, the true story about a spider that got loose in the museum. Peggy is an educator and an Associate Professor at the School of the Art Institute.
