Friends of Downtown Glenview members announced a new event at Saturday’s Glenview Summer Fest: Blocktoberfest, sponsored by the friends group with the Glenview Chamber of Commerce and beer from Ten-Ninety Brewing.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 on Glenview Road with the main stage just west of Church Street.

Friends of Downtown Glenview members made the announcement and provided information at their booth at the chamber’s annual Summer Fest. They also launched a website Saturday (glenviewblocktoberfest.com) to provide more information about the event. Downtown Glenview Merchants group members are also involved in the event.

Ten-Ninety Brewing owner Brian Schafer came dressed for the announcement, sporting German lederhosen at the Friends of Downtown Glenview booth.

The event will include beer, food and a great deal of music. Glenview Chamber Executive Director Betsy Baer said entertainment would include “family fun” early and popular bands later in the afternoon and evening. The event will also have multiple local food vendors.

Baer said a full list of event entertainment and other restaurants besides Ten-Ninety would be released soon.
